Born and raised in East Tennessee Tammy J Poore spent her early years listening to the vivid stories of her deceased grandfather, who was a diligent coal miner, along with the stories of her mother's childhood in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia and Tennessee. Ever since her earliest days, she loved story telling, especially ghost lore.
Tammy could not escape the allure of storytelling and quickly began studying to become a novelist. She began by reading every chance she had. From classical literature to contemporary novels. Tammy left college before earning her degree. She decided to enter a profession that offered personal, close relationships, she became a cosmetologist in the early 1990's, this profession allowed her to study people, and listen to their stories. "I became a student of life." she recalls.
Her first book, Ghost Tales & Superstitions of Southern Appalachian Mountains (published April 20102) has opened many unexpected doors for the author allowing her to explore the incredible world of ghosts and haunted places.
